Day 6 · Discover
Closer than you think
"Draw near to God, and he will draw near to you." — James 4:8
James gives us one of the most beautiful and practical promises in the entire Bible: when you draw near to God, He draws near to you. It doesn't say, "If you try hard enough, maybe God will come close." It doesn't say, "If you're perfect, God will draw near." It says: come closer. Period. And He will answer.
The distance we feel from God is rarely because of Him. He didn't move. We got distracted. We became busy. We drifted away step by step, so gradually that we don't even notice it. But the good news is that a single step back activates the promise: He is already running to you.
Remember the parable of the prodigal son: while the son was still far off, the father saw him, ran to him, and embraced him. Such is our God. He doesn't wait for you with his arms crossed. He waits for you with open arms.
Today, take a step toward God. It can be reading an extra verse, it can be a more honest prayer, or just saying, "Lord, here I am." That step is enough.
Prayer
Lord, today I draw near to You. Not with perfection, but with sincerity. Thank you for running to me. Amen.
