50 Days: The Mark of the Spirit
"But you will receive power, when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be witnesses to me." — Acts 1:8
In biblical tradition, 50 days after Passover came Pentecost — the day when the Holy Spirit descended upon the early believers and the church was born with power. Today you complete 50 days on this journey, and it is a time to remember that the power to live the faith does not come from you.
Jesus promised that the Holy Spirit would empower believers to be witnesses. Not witnesses in the legal sense—people who know facts about a case—but witnesses in the existential sense—people whose entire lives are evidence of God's reality.
For 50 days you have discovered God, grown in spiritual disciplines, and begun to live your faith in action. But none of this is possible without the Holy Spirit. He is the one who gives you strength to persevere, love to serve, boldness to share, and power to transform.
Don't do these last 10 days in your own strength. Ask the Holy Spirit to fill you again. Ask Him to empower you. Ask Him to use you in ways you cannot accomplish alone.
Today, the Spirit is upon you. Receive His power.
