Day 27 · Grow

Purity of the Heart

"Create in me, O God, a clean heart, and renew a right spirit within me." — Psalm 51:10

David wrote this psalm after his greatest failure. Adultery. Deception. Covert murder. And yet, God called him "a man after my own heart." How is that possible? Because David knew how to do something that many do not know: repent sincerely.

Biblical repentance is not feeling bad about being discovered. It's a genuine change of direction, a transformation of the heart that says, "I was wrong, and I want to change." David doesn't look for excuses. He doesn't blame others. He asks God to create something new in him: a clean heart.

Giving God time includes giving Him access to your heart's inventory. Is there resentment stored? Hidden habits? Thoughts that don't honor God? Not to condemn you, but to set you free. Confession is not a humiliation; it is a liberation.

Today, do the exercise that David did: ask God to examine your heart. Not with fear, but with confidence that His purpose is to restore, not destroy.

Micro-message

God does not examine your heart to condemn you. He examines it to heal you.

Prayer

Create in me a clean heart, Lord. Reveal what I need to let go of and renew my spirit from within. Amen.
